OCD, Anxiety & Trauma Therapy in South Surrey

If you're stuck in loops of intrusive thoughts, constantly checking or seeking reassurance, bracing for something bad to happen, or exhausted from always being on guard, you're in the right place.

I'm Melanie DiMenna, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in South Surrey, BC. I specialize in evidence-based treatment for:

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Anxiety, constant worry, panic attacks, and overthinking, using CBT and ACT approaches

  • Past experiences that still affect how you see yourself and relate to others using EMDR therapy

Serving: Surrey, South Surrey, White Rock, Langley, Delta, and virtual counselling clients throughout British Columbia.

Does this Sound Familiar?

You're managing on the surface, but inside:

  • You're stuck in checking rituals, mental loops, or compulsions that eat hours of your day. You know it doesn't make sense, but you can't stop.

  • You're always scanning for danger, replaying conversations, planning for disasters that haven't happened. Sleep is hard. Relaxing feels impossible.

  • You're on high alert, triggered by reminders you can't predict, or emotionally shut down to cope with what happened.

You're tired of just coping. You want your life back.

My Approach

Evidence-Based Therapy That Works

I don't use generic talk therapy. I use proven clinical approaches tailored to your specific concerns:

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
The gold-standard treatment for OCD. We'll gradually face feared situations while resisting compulsions, breaking the cycle that keeps OCD in control. I use evidence-based approaches, but I'm not rigid or overly serious. If humour helps you get some distance from what OCD is demanding, we'll use it.

EMDR Therapy
EMDR helps reprocess traumatic memories or difficult life experiences so they lose their emotional charge. Available both in-person in South Surrey and virtually across BC.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Learn to interrupt worry spirals, challenge catastrophic thinking, and build distress tolerance to manage stress.

My training:

  • Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology

  • Registered Clinical Counsellor with BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC)

  • EMDR trained clinician

  • Specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD

Counselling Services in South Surrey & Online

A few of the areas I specialize in

  • Intrusive thoughts, checking rituals, contamination fears, harm obsessions, mental compulsions, and reassurance-seeking. Treatment using ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) and other approaches.

  • Difficulty with boundaries, communication patterns, codependency, and relationship anxiety.

  • Inner critic, self-doubt, imposter syndrome, and perfectionist thinking patterns.

  • Difficult life experiences can leave a lasting mark, making it harder to feel calm, connected, or in control. I work with clients to process these experiences, ease their intensity, and build a greater sense of calm and safety in daily life.

  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks, and chronic worry. Evidence-based CBT and ACT interventions.
